Poverty Olympics 2010

The Carnival Band came out in force to support the 3rd Annual Poverty Olympics on the Downtown Eastside, Sunday, February 7

The Poverty Olympics were devised as a way to draw media and political attention to the unacceptable living conditions for many grindingly poor residents in Canada's poorest postal code. Judging from the amount of photography, video and audio equipment tracking every inch of the parade it appears the the organizers achieved their objective.

While sending a strong message with serious implications the event was, in fact, a lot of fun.

All the ski googles and hockey helmets looked amazing.
