A bit of destination trivia as the band heads to Boston.

Members under 50 (or 60) may not know 'MTA', a hit for The Kingston Trio in the early 60s.

Written as a (humorous) protest song in response to the raising of Boston's subway fares the song tells the pitiful story of Charlie's last (and lasting) ride on the subway (called the T in Boston)

Cities with large subway systems tend to name their electronic fare cards, Orca (Seattle), Clipper (San Francisco), Oyster (London) so on and so forth.

Bostonians chose the best name of all, the Charlie Card. You just have to love a city with a sense of humour like that.

Rally For Freedom

A small, but meaningful, band came out on short notice to lend support to the fight for freedom in Iran and other Middle Eastern countries, Egypt, Bahrain, Tunisia …

It's a long list.

The organization that hired the band is called Neda. Neda means 'voice' in Farsi. It is also the name of a young women who was attacked and killed in Iran in 2009.

Frog Hollow Festival

On Thursday, Sept. 2 we had a ball and ate well at Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House's healthy living festival in Clinton Park, Slocan and Grant Sts.

Ross pulled a few strings and had the air force do a fly-past at no extra charge.

According to him he also arranged for the moon to be out but I'm not sure he's 'that' well connected.

Brian Jones could not have chosen a better event for his first gig.

Ross explains the subtle differences between a soprano sax and a zucchini to a rapt audience.

Rehearsal On The Seawall

LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY

Britannia C.C. is closed on stat holidays. This Monday, Sept. 6, the band will rehearse on the False Creek seawall, south side. Head on down to where all the city-owned, slightly used, unsold condos are.

Facing Science World head around the seawall to the left until you reach the fancy footbridge or bump into the band.

The plan is to go to the Cambie Pub after rehearsal.

Rehearsal starts at 7:00 pm (give or take)

This year's festivities will be held at the Vedic Hindu Temple 8321 140th St., Surrey.

The 3,550 one day spike was the day after Pride 2010

I never imagined that my flickr pool would ever have 100,000 views. The fact that it's seen that much activity in 18 months is incredible.
